Configured Part Lifecycle

The Configured Part policy governs unresolved parts.

The Configured Part lifecycle includes these states:

Preliminary

All configured parts are in the Preliminary state when they are created.

When working in conjuction with VPM Configured Environment, a check trigger EnsureVPMSpecIsReleased, which is specific to a specification of type VPM Product, checks for the specification to be in the Released state before the part is released. An action trigger, VPMSynchronize, publishes all-level information to VPM.

Release

When a configured part is revised it is promoted to the Release state; pending changes become effective in the new revision.

Superseded

When a configured part is released, its previous revision is promoted to the Superseded state. All pending changes are removed from the previous revision.
