Manufacturing Plan Lifecycle

The lifecycle of a manufacturing plan consists of the Preliminary and Released states.

Archived manufacturing plans are governed by a separate policy with a single state of Archived. In the Archived state, the manufacturing plan is removed from sight and is no longer available for selection. Archived manufacturing plans are only visible from the Archived tab of the Manufacturing Plans page. They can be re-activated from this tab.

The Manufacturing Plan lifecycle includes these states:

Preliminary

In the Preliminary state, Product Managers, Manufacturing Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, System Engineers, and the Owner can create and modify manufacturing plans, connect and disconnect manufacturing plans from logical features and products, view the manufacturing plans defined for logical features and products, view manufacturing plan properties and promote manufacturing plans to the Released state. Employees can view the manufacturing plans defined for logical features and products and view manufacturing plan properties. Public has no access in this state.

Before the manufacturing plan for a product can be promoted to the Released state, each top-level logical feature revision included in the product must have a low-level manufacturing plan defined. For details on assigning manufacturing plans for logical features, see "Viewing the Manufacturing Plan Matrix" in the Design and Manufacturing Configuration Planning User's Guide.

Released

In the Released state, Product Managers, Manufacturing Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, System Engineers, and the Owner can view the manufacturing plans defined for logical features and products, view manufacturing plan properties, and demote manufacturing plans to the Preliminary state. Employees can view the manufacturing plans defined for logical features and products and view manufacturing plan properties.
