Create
When a part marking is created, its name can be specified or can be
automatically generated by the system if Autoname is selected. Marking
characteristics can be chosen to specify what will be marked by the part
marking object, including part name, revision, type, tooling ID, product,
or date. The marking method is also selected and whether parts are marked
by lot number or serial number.
When the part marking is in the Create state, the Senior Design Engineer
can attach parts and a part specification. When the part marking is promoted
from the Create state to the Review state, a check is made to ensure
that a part marking specification is attached.

Review
The part marking can be edited in the Review state. Additional parts
can be attached. A part marking cannot be demoted from the Review state
to the Create state.
In order for the Senior Design Engineer to promote the part marking
to the Complete state, the attached specification must be in the Approved
state and at least one file must be checked in.

Complete
Once the part marking is in the Complete state, no specification files
can be added to the related part marking specification. The related part
marking specification cannot be demoted. Parts can still be attached.
