Product Line Lifecycle

Product lines manage models and models manage products.

The Product Line lifecycle includes these states:

Planned

In the Planned state, a Product Manager defines the product line structure and models of the product line. The Product Manager or System Engineer then promotes the product line to the Marketing state.

Marketing

In the Marketing state, a Marketing Manager adds the marketing text and marketing name and attaches marketing images of the product line. The Marketing Manager then promotes the product line to the Define Change Board state.

Define Change Board

In the Define Change Board state, a Product Manager or a Design Engineer assigns the Change Board responsible for the release of all the engineering change orders. The Product Manager then promotes the product line to the Review state.

Review

In the Review state, a Product Manager reviews the product line and its structure before activating the product line. The Product Manager then promotes the product line to the Active state.

Complete

In the Complete state, a Product Manager activates the use of the product line. This enables other users of the Product Line Management application to add models or define sub product lines to this product line. The Product Manager promotes the product line to the Inactive state whenever required.

Inactive

In the Inactive state, a Product Manager inactivates the use of the product line when your company no longer supports this product line. All objects of this product line are also made inactive with respect to the product line. The product line can be reactivated, if required.
