Workflow Task Lifecycle

Tasks defined in a workflow are controlled by the Workflow Task policy. If the Workflow that a Workflow Task belongs to is stopped, all workflow tasks for that workflow are deleted.

The workflow Task lifecycle includes these states:

Started

When a workflow is promoted to Started, the workflow tasks defined for that workflow are created in the Started state. The system sends a notification to the assignee of the task, which could be a group or a role.

Assigned

When the workflow task has been assigned to you, you can use the Complete command in the page Actions menu or toolbar to promote the task to the Completed state. Typically, a task is completed when the Add Content command is used to meet the requirements of a Deliverable.

The Deliverable can be any of these types:

  • CAD Drawing
  • CAD Model
  • Document
  • Drawing Print
  • ECO
  • ECR Engineering Change
  • Issue
  • Markup
  • Part
  • Part Family
  • Part Specification
  • Product Line
  • Sketch

Suspended

The task has been suspended.

Overridden

The Workflow Task Assignee, or a required approver, has selected to override the requirement for this task.

Completed

When the task assignee completes the task, the person enters comments and/or uploads a deliverable, and the system promotes the task to Completed.
