Choosing a Time Zone

Once the time zone preference is set, all date/time entries, whether input by a user or displayed by the system, are converted from the server time zone to your preferred time zone at the time of display. Clients in different locations around the world see the time in their own time zone rather than the time where the server is located.

For example, if someone modifies a part in New York at 11 a.m., London users who have their time zone preference set to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) sees the Modified time for the part as 4 p.m. Likewise, if someone in a Hong Kong time zone sets up a route and inputs the due date and time for task, the task owner in California sees the date and time in Pacific Standard Time.

  1. From the global toolbar, select > My Tools > Preferences. The Preferences dialog box opens.

  2. From the General category, click Time Zone.

  3. Select a Time Zone from the drop-down list. Time zone preferences are listed according to geographical area and the plus or minus difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

  4. If the time zone you select supports Daylight Savings, choose Yes to have the system automatically change the time when Daylight Savings time changes for that zone.

    Or

Choose No if you want your system to ignore Daylight Savings time changes. For example, certain areas within time zones that support Daylight Savings do not choose to switch between Daylight Savings and Standard Time.

This option is disabled for time zones that do not support Daylight Savings.

  5. Click Apply or Done to save your selection. Clicking Apply leaves the Preferences popup open so you can set other preferences. Clicking Done closes it.
