Overview

This ENOVIA Applications Installation Guide describes how to install any ENOVIA Web application or accelerator, from installing the database through logging into the application.

All ENOVIA products require that you first install all components of ENOVIA Live Collaboration as described in What Needs to be Installed?. Then follow the installation procedures outlined in this guide.

Before Installing the applications

If installing many ENOVIA products on the same system, the default setting for open files may be too small in a RIP environment (single process). In this case, ENOVIA Live Collaboration requires about 1k for open files. For example, on Solaris use the following setting in the /etc/system file:

set rlim_fd_cur=1024 ; soft limit (per process)

If your application server is configured for use with other applications besides ENOVIA's, you should refer to your application server's tuning recommendations. For WebLogic on Solaris, the recommendation is 8192, as shown in their documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/perform/HWTuning.html.

Installing a hot fix

Hot fix installations (VERSION.HFX.Partial) are available for selected ENOVIA product versions. A hot fix can be installed only over the version of the same name. For example, EngineeringCentral.10.5.HF2.Partial can be installed over Engineering Central version 10.5 or 10.5.HF1. A full upgrade (VERSION.HFX.Full) can be installed over any previous release.

Hot fix installation follows the same procedure as the full release installation, but includes only modified files. It is recommended for sites that have customized pages.
