ClearCase Views

This section explains how to create and register ClearCase for accessing ClearCase data. The ENOVIA X-BOM for Rational ClearCase uses ClearCase views for accessing ClearCase data.

The administrator of the integration should create these ClearCase views on the integrations server machine (where application server and ClearCase client are installed).

ENOVIA X-BOM for Rational ClearCase adds its own menu in the ENOVIA Global Preferences page. Before one starts using the integration it is necessary to set the ClearCase views for integration's use. Please refer to the ENOVIA X-BOM for Rational ClearCase User's Guide for more information about setting ClearCase views in the integration's preferences.

The syntax for adding the ClearCase views is as follows:

  • ClearCase View tag|ClearCase view's full path

Note: The ClearCase view tag is case sensitive and needs to be mentioned carefully. The view full path constitutes the full path of the view including view dir name. The ‘|’ character is used as the separator between the two values.

If you are using only snapshot views, ensure that these snapshot views are created without any load rules. The snapshot views should have no 'load rules' selected. This is a special arrangement unlike creating normal snapshot views for ClearCase usage. The administrator can set the desired configuration spec for each snapshot view.

Note: ClearCase view created in this manner behaves like a dynamic view; any query executed in context of these ClearCase views will always be in sync with the ClearCase data on the server.
