ENOVIA Studio Modeling Platform

The ENOVIA Studio Modeling Platform may be used in alternative languages for menus and messages. The software is shipped with a language file, an ASCII file which enables you to alter or translate the names of various menus, dialog boxes, and error messages. This file, called matrix.txt, is located in the ETC directory under the $MATRIXINSTALL/PLATFORM/ directory and contains all messages used by ENOVIA Matrix Navigator, ENOVIA Studio Business Modeler, and ENOVIA Studio System Administration applications.

Note: Changes to matrix.txt are only for ENOVIA Studio Modeling Platform and do not affect PowerWeb.

To translate schema definitions for ENOVIA Studio Modeling Platform, you may use language aliases, as described in the MQL Guide.

Localization files are provided already translated to various languages in the appropriate directory beneath the ETC directory. For example, the $MATRIXINSTALL/PLATFORM/etc/japanese directory contains both a matrix.txt and a matrix.vr file for the Kanji language. By moving the .vr file to $MATRIXHOME, the software is displayed in the new language.

The $MATRIXINSTALL and $MATRIXHOME directories could be different.

Of course, the language's operating system and character set must also be loaded for proper display. In addition, Oracle has localization requirements, as outlined in Installing an Oracle Database.

If refinements to the translated text are required, the matrix.txt file may be edited and a new .vr file created as described in the Studio Modeling - System Manager Guide.

Note: Software programs run via the ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server receive error messages and strings in the language known to the Server. If no .vr file is available to the server, that language is English. Note that a server may be configured with no more than one .vr file.
