About Synchronizing Attributes

Attribute Synchronization allows you to transfer attributes between ENOVIA and CATIA V5. You can use Attribute Synchronization to synchronize attributes between CATIA V5 and ENOVIA outside the checkin/checkout operation.

If the value of an attribute received from ENOVIA is same as that existing in the CATIA V5, the CSE does not update the attribute.

For details on mapping the attributes in GCO, see the ENOVIA Collaborative Design for CATIA V5 Installation and Administrator's Guide.

GCO mappings are not NLS supported. Therefore, you must provide the name of the attributes in the CATIA file in English only, regardless of the language environment of the CATIA session.

The Synch. Attributes command supports following types of attributes:

  • Summary information: These attributes can be seen by selecting Edit > Properties in CATIA V5. These are treated as system attributes.

  • Custom Attributes: Custom attributes can be seen in the Properties dialog under the Product tab. The custom attributes are treated as normal attributes.

  • After clicking Define other properties... you can add custom properties for the CATIA V5 document.

  • Param Attributes--Click in CATIA V5 to view or add param attributes.

  • Drawing Text--Text present in a drawing file can be mapped for attribute synchronization.

  • Drawing Table: Text present in a table cell in a drawing can be mapped for attribute synchronization.

  • 2D Component Modifiable text: For steps to create a 2D component, please refer to the CATIA user documentation. Text present inside a 2D component can be marked as modifiable using the Modifiable Instance command for such text. Note that once you mark text as modifiable using the Modifiable Instanc command, there is no way to reverse the effect of this command.

  • Once the text is marked as modifiable, the text can be edited from the instance of the 2D component. This text can be mapped for attribute synchronization.
