Locking and Unlocking Designs

The Lock/Unlock command allows users to lock/unlock the active model in CATIA V5 in the ENOVIA database. The integration allows you to check in the CATIA V5 object only if you have the lock on it.

An object that is locked by another user can be unlocked only if the person,

  • has unlock access.
  • is assigned the Integration Administrator role.

This task shows you how to:

  1. Click ENOVIA V6 > Lock/Unlock after you modify an object to lock the object during checkin to prevent other users from modifying the object you locked.

    The Lock/Unlock page opens.

  2. The current lock status of the CATIA V5 object in ENOVIA is displayed in this page. You can change the lock status by selecting the objects for which you want to change the status on the Lock/Unlock page. In this example, the axle has been selected to be locked.

    In Lock/Unlock page you can:

    • Click Lock All to select all objects for locking.
    • Click Lock Modified to select all objects for which the status is shown as modified in the status column. This flag is obtained from the CATIA V5 based on the files that are modified by the user. All modified objects are shown sorted in the list.
    • Click Unlock All to select all the objects for unlocking.

  3. Click Submit to change the lock or unlock status.

If the Integration cannot detect the exact version of the file, an error message is displayed. You can use the Versions dialog to identify the version.

In CATIA V5 if a file is read-only, a LOCK icon is displayed. If the file subsequently becomes writable then CATIA V5 displays the icon as UNLOCKED.The integration sets the file as read-only if the user does not have lock and makes the file writable once the user attains lock.

The attribute CatSetReadWriteAccessBasedOnLockUnLockOptions decides whether or not the integration should change the filesystem read/write status of files based on the ENOVIA lock setting. If this attribute is set to TRUE, the integration alters the file system read/write status based on the ENOVIA lock status (e.g. if locked, the file is read/write, else read-only). If FALSE, the integration leaves all files as writable. This attribute works only during checkin and checkout operations.

Lock/Unlock of RFA Objects

Files opened in CATIA V5 from RFA location cannot be edited. The file must be locked to make changes to the file.

Upon locking, the RFA files are downloaded to the hard-disk and the integration re-loads the file from the local-disk. The file is loaded in writable mode the model can be edited. The file from the hard-link operation is deleted by the integration.
