Installing ENOVIA Integration Exchange Framework Client in UI Mode

This section shows you how to install ENOVIA Integration Exchange Framework Client (IEC) in UI mode.

The IEC installer installs the client-side component of Designer Central. The following components are installed:

  • IEFClientWorkspaceService
  • Integration with Windows explorer

It is mandatory to install IEC for all integrations that are dependent on Designer Central and use native user interface.

Note: New V6 installer based ENOVIA Integration Exchange Framework Client (IEC) installer allows multiple installation of IEC in multiple folders on the same client machine. However, if one of the IEC installations is uninstalled, it makes the remaining IEC installations non-operational. To use IEC again, reinstall IEC.


Before you begin:
  • Ensure that the user installing Integration Exchange Framework Client has Administrator privileges. Only users with Administrator privileges can install Integration Exchange Framework Client.
  • Ensure that the user installing Integration Exchange Framework Client has Administrator privileges for the system it is installed.
  • For Windows, ensure that on a 32-bit OS, a 32-bit JRE is installed. JRE version must be 1.6.0_25 or above. On 32 bit client OS, IEC will run using 32 bit JRE.
  • For Windows, ensure that on a 64-bit OS, a 64-bit JRE is installed. JRE version must be 1.6.0_25 or above. On 64 bit client OS, IEC will run using 64 bit JRE.
  • For Windows platform,on 64-bit client OS, both 32-bit JRE and 64 bit JRE must be installed.

    JRE 1.6 update 25 or above is supported. On a 64-bit client OS, 32-bit JRE is used by the Designer Central applet when operations are performed through the WEB UI and 64-bit JRE is used by Integration Exchange Framework Client.

  1. Run the setup.exe. for Windows or StartGUI.sh for UNIX systems.

  2. Click Next. If an existing installation of ENOVIA Integration Exchange framework is found, then the Previous Installation found dialog box opens. If no previous installation is found, skip to step 3.

    Click Next to overwrite your previous installation or click Cancel to quit the installation.

  3. Click Next. The Choose Destination Folder dialog box opens.

    Click Browse to specify the path to install the ENOVIA Integration Exchange Framework Client. By default, the path is C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\IEFClientV6R2013.

  4. Click Next. The Select Software dialog box opens.

    The required space for installing IEC and the available space is displayed.

  5. Click Next. The Enter the Server URL dialog box opens.

    Enter the complete server URL. For example, http://abc123:8080/enovia.

  6. Click Next. The JRE Directory dialog box opens.

    Click Browse and specify the location where JRE is installed.

    Note: For Windows,

    • On a 32 bit client OS, ensure that 32-bit JRE is selected. JRE 1.6 update 25 or above is supported. On 32 bit client OS, IEC uses 32 bit JRE.
    • On a 64 bit client OS, ensure that 64-bit JRE is selected. JRE 1.6 update 25 or above is supported. On a 64 bit client OS, IEC uses 64 bit JRE.

  7. Click Next. The SSO Enviroment Setting dialog box opens.

    Click SSO Enabled to enable SSO settings.

    Note: This option is available only on Windows platforms.

  8. Click Next. The reboot instructions are displayed.

  9. Click Next. The Summary dialog box opens.

    A summary of the specified parameters in steps 3 to 8 is displayed for review. Click Back to change any parameters if necessary.

  10. Click Install to start the installation.

    A progress bar displays the installation progress.

  11. The Installation Complete dialog box opens once the installation process is complete. Click Close to complete the installation.

    Note: ENOVIA recommends to reboot client after the installation for proper functioning.

    The installation log files are created in <Installation Directory>\InstallData\log.

Un-installation of ENOVIA Integration Exchange Framework Client (IEC) may not delete some folders since some resource from those folders may be locked by the system. You must restart the machine and delete the folders manually.
