Configuring to Export CSV Files in Languages with Double-Byte Characters

When exporting ENOVIA data to an Excel spreadsheet on a computer configured for a language that uses double-byte characters (such as Chinese or Japanese), Microsoft Office needs to be configured to properly display the exported data. You only need to follow this task for users that have problems displaying characters in a CSV-exported file when opened in Microsoft Excel.

Before you begin:

The double-byte Language Pack must be installed on the user's computer.

  1. On the user's computer, select Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office 2007 Language Settings.

The dialog lists the available and enabled languages.

  2. If needed, select a language in the Available editing languages list and click Add to move the language to the Enabled editing languages list.

  3. Select the double-byte language needed from the Primary editing language drop-down list.

  4. Click OK. If Excel was open on the user's computer, close it.

The next time the user exports a CSV file, Excel shows the characters correctly.
