Baselining Designs

This task shows you how to create a baseline for designs that exist in ENOVIA.

Before you begin:

  • The design must exist in ENOVIA.
  • The design must be the active design in Inventor.

  1. Click ENOVIA > Baseline from Inventor toolbar to open the ENOVIA Baseline dialog box.

  2. Enter the following parameters for the baseline:

Name. Enter a name for the baseline. By default, the name field specifies the design name with date stamp in <design name>-<mmddyy> format.

Description. Enter a description for the baseline

  3. Click OK.

A warning message is displayed if a baseline exists in ENOVIA with the same name. Click Yes to overwrite the existing baseline or click No to enter new parameters for the baseline.

Baselines are applied only to the design node active in Inventor and the structure beneath the node does not inherit the baseline.

A success message is displayed once the baseline is created.

A baseline is created for the design active in Inventor with the specified parameters.

Known Limitation

The following is a known limitation in Baselines feature:

Baseline creation from the CAD tool fails when you try to create a baseline for a structure wherein the participating designs are being referred from different directories.

For example,

The user has a parent -> child structure wherein the parent and child are located in different directories and the user tries to baseline this structure from the CAD tool using ENOVIA -> Baseline menu.

An error message "Could not baseline as designs are opened from multiple directories. Please open all designs from ENOVIA to a single directory before baseline" is displayed.
