Creating a Drawing Using Template

This task shows you how to create drawings using predefined templates. The in-session designs are automatically associated to the drawing which is created using templates.

Before you begin:
  • Drawing template must exist. Templates are created by the Integration Administrator or an user who has appropriate access privileges. See ENOVIA Designer Central Installation and Administrator's Guide for details on creating templates.
  • Ensure that the designs that you want to associate with the drawing are open in Inventor.
  1. Click ENOVIA > New from Inventor toolbar to open the ENOVIA New dialog box.

Enter details for the new design including the following:

Templates. Select a template from the templates listed under INV Drawing Template for the INV drawing to be created. The Attribute section lists the attributes of the selected drawing template.

Specify the Name of the design using one of the following methods:

Name. Enter a name for the drawing

Autoname. Select the Autoname check box and select the naming series from the drop down list. If any custom series specific to CAD Drawing is defined, then Autoname series drop down lists the custom series if the object of type derived from CAD Drawing is selected. Selecting the Autoname checkbox disables the Name field.

  2. Click OK when done.

The template file is downloaded to the Checkout directory defined in the Preferences and opened in Inventor as the active session. The created drawing is automatically related to the designs active in Inventor.
