Retaining a Document

When document objects are added as classified items to classes in a general library, you can select a retention record or retention hold for the object from the Classified Items page.


Before you begin: View the list of classified items for a class in a general library. See Classified Items List.
  1. From the page toolbar, click Categories > Classified Items.

    The Status column shows an icon if the object on that row is already covered by a retention record or retention hold. You can add a document to more than one retention record or retention hold object.

  2. Check the document or generic document to be added to a retention record or retention hold.

    You can only add a document or generic document to a retention record or retention hold; not any other type (such as part) of classified object.

  3. Select Set Retention Schedule from the page toolbar.

  4. Locate and select the needed retention record or retention hold. See Searching in Navigation Mode. The search results only include those retention records or retention holds in the Active state. This example shows the list of Classified Items where a document is controlled by a retention record (the Status column).
