Searching for People and Project Members

Whenever you need to assign one or more people within Program Central, you need to perform a search. For example, to assign people to a project or WBS task, you need to search for the people and then choose them from the results page. Or when assigning an issue, you select persons to be the assignees for the issue.People who are designated as Company Representatives can also search for any registered user using the search on the main Tools > Search > Program > People page.

  1. From the global toolbar, click > Program > People.

    Search for members of a project or people belonging to an organization from various places in Program Central.

    If this search is accessed when selecting a resource manager, the page displays people with the resource manager role within the company. You can change the search criteria to all organizations if needed.

  2. Enter search criteria as needed to narrow the search:

    You can click Reset at any time to clear all criteria fields.

    First Name. Enter all or part of the first name. Use the * wildcard to represent any number of characters.

    Last Name. Enter all or part of the last name. Use the * wildcard to represent any number of characters.

    Title. Enter all or part of the title. You may use * as a wildcard.

  3. In the Limit to field, you can enter the number of search results to display. The default is 100. For example, if you limit the results to 50, the system will get only the first 50 items from the database that match your criteria.

  4. Click Search.

    The bottom of the page displays each person that met the search criteria.

    Name. The name of the person. To view the person's properties, click the name.

    Title. The person's title.

    E-mail. The person's e-mail address. Click the e-mail address to launch your default e-mail client with this person's address in the "to" field.

    Phone. The person's phone number.

    Company. The company to which the person belongs. Click the company name to view its properties.

    Location. The person's location. Click the location name to view its properties.

  5. To save the search criteria, including the Type and Attribute selections:

    1. Click > Save As.
    2. Enter a name for the search.
    3. Click Done.

  6. To re-execute a saved search, click and click the name of the search.

  7. To add selected items to a collection, click Collections, and then click:


    • Add to Clipboard Collection adds the items to your clipboard collection.
    • New / Add to Collections opens the Select Collection form. See Working with Collections.
