Using Structure View for a Requirement Group

You use Structure View to view and work with requirement groups and sub groups. You can add a sub group to an existing requirement group and add specifications to a group.

  1. From the Requirement Specifications page, click the requirement group name, or click .



    The Structure View page column details are as follows:

    Name. The name of the object. The navigation tree lists each specification and sub group belonging to the group. Click the plus or minus to expand or collapse the listing. You can also click on the toolbar to expand to a specified number of levels or click to expand all levels.

    To make selections in the navigation tree, click the column header, check box to select, or deselect, all objects. A green check mark displays . Use the row check boxes to select, or deselect, individual objects.

    Title. The title of the group or specification under the group.

    Owner. The owner of the group or specification under the group.

    Structure Effectivity. The date(s) on which the object is valid in the group.

    Item Effectivity. Not used.

  2. Right-click on the name of an object and a menu of actions for that object will display.

  3. Use the Effectivity filter to refine the display of requirements based on the effectivity of objects in relation to the parent requirement group. See Filter Effectivity for Display.

  4. Use the Actions menu or page toolbar to work with the groups and specifications:

    Create New Sub Requirement Group. Creates a new sub requirement group for the selected requirement group.

    Attach Existing Group. Attaches an existing group to the selected group. A Search page allows you to locate and select one or more groups that will be attached as sub groups.

    Delete Selected Groups. Deletes the selected groups and sub groups.

    Note: Specifications belonging to these deleted groups are not deleted from the system.

    Create New Requirement Specification. Creates a new requirement specification and attaches it to the selected group. See Creating New Requirement Specifications.

    Attach Existing Specification. Attaches an existing specification to the selected group. A Search page allows you to locate and select one or more specifications.

    Detach Specification. Detaches the selected specification(s) from a group.

  5. Click Enable Edit to edit fields in a groups and specifications. This allows you to set the Structure Effectivity on sub groups and specifications, proving dates when these objects are valid within the parent group.
