Simulation Activity Lifecycle

One or more simulation activities comprise a simulation. A simulation activity is an individual step in the process of executing a simulation. A simulation may contain none, one, or more simulation activities. This lifecycle is used for simulation activities that do not require a formal review process.

See also Simulation Activity - Controlled Lifecycle For more details about working with simulations, see the SIMULIA SLM User's Guide.

The simulation Activity lifecycle includes these states:

In Process

This state represents the simulation while it is being developed. A simulation activity consists of the following four stages:

  • Export. The export rule exports data to the working directory.
  • Execute. The simulation connector executes the application on the host, and the application generates additional data in the working directory. This stage produces a simulation job.
  • Import. The import rule takes data from the working directory and imports it into the results category.
  • Clean up. Files that do not need to be retained, such as log files, are removed from the working directory.

The owner has complete access to a simulation or a simulation activity in the In Process state.

Complete

The simulation is ready for execution by a Simulation Analyst. A Simulation Analyst with read access can revise the simulation.

Obsolete

The simulation is no longer relevant and is not expected to be executed. The owner can delete the simulation in the Obsolete state.
