Viewing the Log File

When a background job is executed, the system creates a log file that lists all the processes within the job. You can view the contents of the log file. For successful jobs, you probably do not need to view the log, but for failed jobs, the log file shows exactly which process in the job caused the failure.

Before you begin: View the list of Background Jobs. See Background Jobs Page.
  1. Click for the needed log file.

  2. Choose an action:

    • View Log. Opens the list of messages generated as the job was processed.
    • Download/Save-as. Copies the log file(.txt format) to your computer. You can open it directly, or save the file. The dialog box that opens depends on your computer's operating system

  3. Click Done. If you chose to view the log, a window opens showing the file. See Background Job Log File.
