Adding an Approval Task

You can add an additional approver for an object whenever deemed necessary. The application either adds the approval as a new task to an existing route for the selected state, or creates a new route with the single task.


Before you begin: View the Approvals tab of the Lifecycle PowerView. See Working with Lifecycle Approvals.
  1. Click Add Approver in the page toolbar.



  2. Enter values for the fields in this dialog box:

    Field Name How to Enter Value
    State From the drop-down list, select the lifecycle state of the object where you want to add this approval requirement.
    Action What type of action you want the selected person to take:
    • Comment. person must respond with comments about the task.
    • Approve. person must approve or reject the task.
    • Notify Only. person is notified of the task without needing to take any action.
    Approver Click to search for and select the person whose approval is needed. You can select a specific person, a role, or a group.
    Instructions Enter text to explain why the approval is needed.
    Due Date Select one of these options:
    • Set a specific date and time: use the calendar tool to select the date the approval is needed
    • Choose either Route Start Date or Task Create Date from the pull-down list and enter a number of days to calculate from that event.
    • Let the assignee set the due date

    If you do specify a date, the task defaults to Assignee-Set Due Date.

    Allow Delegation To prevent the assignee from delegating the approval, clear the check box.
    Requires Owner Review To specify that the owner must review the approval before the task can be completed, select the check box .

  3. Click Apply to add this approver and continue adding approvers; click Done to add this approver and close the dialog box.
