Editing BOM Details

The product version inherits the quantity/yield from the base product. You can modify the quantity of raw materials in the version product BOM. If you modify the quantity of raw material, then the version product will not inherit the quantity of raw material defined in the base product.

The given below example describes the Quantity/Yield variation in base and version product.

The product Shirt has two raw materials, Fabric and Trim.

Shirt (Base)
Fabric 1.5
Trim 2.0

If you create a Version of the Shirt, then it inherits the quantity of fabric and trim from base product (Shirt).

Shirt (Version)
Fabric 1.5
Trim 2.0

If you further modify the quantity of the Trim in Version to 2.5, then the quantity of the trim for Version is different from that of Shirt. The following table shows the modified trim quantity.

Shirt (Version)
Fabric 1.5
Trim 2.5

The following example describes about the quantity of raw material in BOM Variant.

A new variant BV-1created for Black colorway and added Label of quantity 3.0 to it's BOM is as given below.

BV-1
Fabric 1.5
Trim 2.5
Label 3.0

If you modify the Shirt's Trim quantity to 3.5 from the style BOM with filter defined to Black colorway, then quantity of trim will not only be modified in BV-1 but will be modified across all the BOM variants.
