Creating a Component

You can create a material component directly from the context of Bill of Material page of a product.

Before you begin: You can add materials into the Bill of Material page of a product from either the seasonal library associated with that product or from materials available to the user in the library. Only users assigned with Apparel Designer, Footwear Designer or Technical Designer role can create a component.

Ensure that you are in the View/Edit BOM tab for a product. See View/Edit BOM Page.

  1. From the tab toolbar, click Enable Edit.

  2. From the page Actions menu, click Create New Component. The Create New Component form opens.



  3. Specify the following:

    Field Name How to Enter
    Type Select the type of component to be created from the drop-down list.
    Add To Select the type of category under which the new component is created from the drop-down list. This field is displayed only if the product type is footwear.
    Policy Select the policy to use when creating the new component from the drop-down list. The possible values are,

    Developed Component - A developed component is a component that can be searched through general search, can be added to seasonal libraries and can be connected to all products. Developed Component follows a standard development lifecycle. The component is intended to be reused across multiple styles.

    Style Specific Component - A style specific component is specific to a single product, cannot be searched through general search, and cannot be added to seasonal libraries. Style Specific component has a single state lifecycle as component is not intended to be reused. It is to sourced to a specific supplier.
    Description Description of the component.
    Brand Select the brand of the new component from the drop-down list. By default, the value of the brand matches the brand of the context product.
    Season Created Select the season created for the new component from the drop-down list. By default, the value of the brand matches the season of the context product.
    Product Team Select the product team of the new component from the drop-down list. By default, the value of the brand matches the product team of the context product.
    Color Positions Select the color positions from the drop-down list.
    Add to Seasonal Library? Lists Seasonal libraries connected to product via seasonal plan. Checkbox is available against each of the seasonal libraries for selection. This field is displayed only if, Developed Component is selected as the policy. Component type is specified as Fabric or Trim. This field is not displayed for Style Specific components.

  4. Click Done.
