Specifying a Blocked State for a Route

If you want to prevent an object from being promoted until the route is completed, you can specify that state as a blocking state. The object cannot be promoted from that state until the route is satisfactorily completed.

Your system may be configured so that if the routed object is demoted, the route is automatically stopped and the route owner is notified.

State-based blocking must be enabled by the Business Administrator. See the Business Process Services Administrator's Guide for details.

Before you begin: View the content for a route or a route template. See Content Page for a Route or Working with Route Templates.
  1. From the Content page, select Edit Lifecycle Blocks from the page Actions menu or toolbar.

The drop-down list for the State Condition includes all of the states defined for that object's lifecycle.

  2. Choose the blocking state from the State Condition column.

  3. To remove a blocked state, choose (none).

  4. Click Done.
