Completing a Workflow Task

The steps you need to perform to complete a task differ depending on the Task Action chosen and instructions entered by the workflow creator. At a minimum, you must read and follow the instructions for the task and then mark the task as completed. You may also have to enter comments, choose an approval option, or review, edit, or add routed content.

Before you begin: View the properties for the task. See Workflow Task Properties.
  1. Read the Instructions that the workflow creator entered for you.

  2. If the instructions involve working with workflow content:

    1. Click the Workflow name in the Workflow field. The Workflows page opens in a popup window.
    2. From the workflow page toolbar, click Categories > Content.
    3. Click the name of the content you need to work with.
    4. Work with the content as instructed. You must have the appropriate access for each content item to be able to work with the item. To add and remove content from the workflow, you must have Add Remove access for the workflow.

  3. If the instructions involve working with task deliverables:

    1. From the task page toolbar, click Categories > Deliverables.
    2. Work with the deliverables as instructed. You may be required to view files, check in new files, or upload files from your computer. For details on working with documents, see Managing Documents.

  4. When you have finished your task, click Complete from the page Actions menu or toolbar.

The system promotes the task to Completed. You can still see the task on your Tasks page when you use the filter for "All Tasks" or "Complete." If no one else needs to complete a concurrent task in the workflow, the next tasks become active. Those task assignees are notified that they have active tasks. If you are the last person to complete a task for the workflow, then the workflow is complete.
