Preparing to Install the ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server

ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server provides another access mechanism to the data that already exists in the ENOVIA Live Collaboration database. Therefore, you must first have an ENOVIA Live Collaboration database set up before installing an ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server. Generally, the version of ENOVIA Studio Modeling Platform should match the version of the ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server, but refer to the Program Directory if it appears that a new version of one has been released without the other. Also required is a machine with one of the configurations shown in What Needs to be Installed?.

The RAM requirements listed in "Prerequisites" in the Program Directory for the given release are guidelines only, as they vary greatly depending on the number of usersand functions performed. Other factors, such as the number of processors and other hardware variations, must also be considered.

Note: A Web or Application Server must be installed and operational before installing ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server.

Note: Since File Collaboration Server and PDF rendering functions require access to ENOVIA Live Collaboration native code libraries, you must install ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server on each Application Server that will be used for ENOVIA Live Collaboration access.

There are two kinds of ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server installation routines:

  • Major installation—Installs all ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server components and modifies startup scripts and property files. Instructions for performing major installations are described in Installing ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server.
  • Hot Fix installation—Installs only the ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server components, without modifying startup scripts or properties files. Hot fixes are intended for upgrading from a major release with the same version number, for example from V6R2012 to V6R2012-HF1. See Installing a Live Collaboration Server Hot Fix for details.

Once the J2EE ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server is installed, configuration adjustments can be made. Some are optional and some are required. Perform the installation in the order prescribed in General Installation for ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server.
