Overview

Collaborative Design for CATIA V5 is an ENOVIA Designer Central integration for CATIA V5 designers.

Collaborative Design for CATIA V5 in a Nutshell

The features provided by this integration allow designers to store and access CATIA V5 documents to and from ENOVIA Designer Central, so that their work can be integrated in the company processes defined in ENOVIA, and reused in other ENOVIA based applications from the DS ecosystem.

In addition, the integration provides collaboration tools to enable concurrent engineering processes with features like documents locks and refresh.

Web Integration vs Embedded Integration

Starting with V6R2011x release, Collaborative Design for CATIA V5 is moving from a browser-based user interface to a directly embedded user interface in CATIA V5. This change brings a much improved user experience and faster workflow for most of the common tasks.

Note: While the concepts remain the same, the interface and the vocabulary is not always a 100% match between the two interfaces.

Because the embedded integration still misses some features as compared to the web integration, and so as not to force all users to migrate as yet, both user interfaces are still available. Users can switch between Web and Embedded Integration mode repeatedly. CATIA V5 must be restarted each time the switch between user interface mode is done.

For the list of features that is present in web integration, but not in embedded integration mode, see Web Integration vs Embedded Integration.
