Searching Documents

You can search for documents that exist in ENOVIA vault from ENOVIA Open dialog box. This task shows you how to search for documents in ENOVIA database from ENOVIA Open dialog box.

  1. Click ENOVIA V6 > Open from the CATIA V5 toolbar.

    The ENOVIA Open dialog box opens.

  2. Enter criteria as needed; you can use wildcards (*) and enter multiple values (separated by commas) in any text field.

    1. In the Type box, click [...] and select the needed type from the Select Type dialog box. Press Ctrl and click to select multiple values. Click OK.
    2. In the Name box, enter the name of the object.
    3. In the Revision box, enter a revision sequence. For example, A, B.
    4. In the State list, select a lifecycle state.
    5. In the Owner box, enter the name of the person who owns the design.
    6. In Vaults, click [...] to select the vault in which design must be searched.
    7. In the Description box, enter the parameters specified as the description for the design when the design was saved to ENOVIA.
    8. Clear the Case Sensitive check box to run a case insensitive search. The state of Case Sensitive check box is retained from the last run search. By default, the Case Sensitive check box is selected.

      When a query is saved, the case sensitive option is saved with the saved query and is retrieved when the save query is used later. See Saving Your Search and Using Saved Queries.

    9. For RACE setup, in the Project box, enter a project name.

  3. Click to run the search or click to reset the search parameters.

    The search results are displayed in the Open dialog box.

    Note: For RACe setup, you cannot change the table view in the Open dialog box. By default, the table view is set to DC5TeamOpenPageDetails for the Open dialog box.

    For each design, the ENOVIA Open dialog box lists,

    Column Name Description
    Name Name of the design. Click + to expand the design structure by one level. Right-click one or more selected documents and click Expand All to expand the entire design structure of the selected objects.

    Note: Incase of cyclic links, reappearing documents cannot be expanded.

    Revision Revision of the design. By default, the latest version of the design for the revision is displayed. Click the revision to select an older version of the design from the drop down list.

    Note: Version selection drop down list is available only for documents that are displayed in the search results and for documents in the structure after expanding.
    Lock Status Icons are displayed to indicate the following lock status:

    . Indicates that the documents are not locked.

    . Indicates that the documents are locked by another user.

    . Indicates that the documents are locked by you.
    Locked By Name of the user who has locked the design.
    Type Type of the design.
    State Current state of the design in lifecycle.
    Description Description of the design
    Owner (only for RACE setup) Owner or creator of the design
    Project (only for RACE setup) Project the design belongs to.
    Organization (only for RACE setup) Name of the organization that owns the project.

  4. Click a design to view the preview image in the bottom left corner of the ENOVIA Open dialog box. The displayed image is in 2D.

    If multiple documents are selected, then the preview image of the design that is selected last is displayed.
