About Installing Oracle Database Software

This topic describes setup requirements and guidelines for configuring Oracle for use with ENOVIA Live Collaboration.

Oracle and ENOVIA Live Collaboration may be installed:

  • As a stand-alone system, in which the client and server machines are the same. In this case, the Oracle server software is installed.
  • In a networked environment, with a database server and multiple clients. You must install the Oracle server software on the central server, if its a networked installation.
  • In a distributed environment, with multiple database servers accessed by clients in several locations. The Oracle server software may be installed on multiple servers in this configuration.

OracleInstantClient is included when ENOVIA Live Collaboration or the ENOVIA Live Collaboration Server are installed.

Note: If you are upgrading from a prior version of ENOVIA Live Collaboration, refer to About Installing Oracle Server for details. Oracle settings may require temporary adjustments while upgrading the schema.
