Configuring the Oracle Server for Use with ENOVIA Live Collaboration

Once the Oracle Server software is installed, the database must be created and configured to run effectively with ENOVIA Live Collaboration software. This procedure lists the steps involved in creating the database.

Since every installation is different, it is difficult to provide an exhaustive list of specific changes that must be made. We recommend that you consult an Oracle-trained DBA who has experience in Oracle tuning to properly configure and tune large databases. However, certain adjustments are universal and are listed in the topics that follow.

Steps 2 through 6, below, can be done using a script.

To create an Oracle database for ENOVIA Live Collaboration:

  1. Decide which files go on which disk, and configure the init<SID>.ora file accordingly. Refer to "Disk Layout Suggestions" for recommendations.

  2. Create the base database using the settings in init<SID>.ora, define a character set, and establish realistic values for MAXDATAFILES and MAXLOGFILES.

  3. Create a default rollback segment that belongs to the system tablespace.

  4. Create the system/sys database views and tables.

  5. Create tablespaces and rollback segments.

  6. Create the user with appropriate rights.

After creating the database, you can configure it as described in the next sections.
