Editing All Resource Rule Properties

This task shows you how to edit all the resource rule properties for an object. The Edit All Resource Rules page has a filter for selecting the column that needs to be modified. By using the column filter you can select the column in which the values need to be modified, then in the Value field, you can enter the new value. By clicking Apply to All, all the fields in the chosen column are updated to contain the value you have entered in the Value field. If you want to change only selected fields in the chosen column, then you select the check boxes accordingly and click Apply to Selected. Note that the check box is used in conjunction with the Column filter. When you click Done, all the changes made in the edit page are updated to the database. It does not depend on which rows are checked for modification.

Before you begin: Access the Resources page for an object. For details, see Viewing Resource Rules.
  1. From the page Actions menu or page toolbar, click Edit All.

The changes to the fields can be made by using the column filter (step 2) or by changing the fields manually (step 3).

  2. Choose an option from the Column filter for updating a specific column in the list.

  3. Enter the new value for the column in the Value field.

    1. Select check boxes for the rows you want to update.
    2. Click Apply to Selected or click Apply to all to apply the new value to all the resource rules.

  4. Make modifications, as necessary. The following can be changed:

Min. Update the minimum resource usage (quantity) by this resource rule for the object.

Max. Update the maximum resource usage (quantity) by this resource rule for the object.

Initial. Update the initial resource quantity defined by this resource rule for the object.

Comments. You can add details to the description or replace the existing description.

Mandatory. Select either Yes or No. Features and rules can be defined as mandatory or non-mandatory. A feature or rule that is mandatory is inherited by all lower level models and products. Mandatory features and rules are maintained at the product line level and promote product consistency.

Note: The Mandatory field is no longer available in the Resource Rule property page. This attribute can be changed only here.

Design Responsibility. Assign the organization or project that has design responsibility for the rule. By default, the design responsibility is populated with the design responsibility associated with the object in context. See Assigning Design Responsibility.

  5. Click Done.
