Installing ENOVIA Collaboration for ENOVIA MS Office Integration and Desktop Search

This chapter provides a step-by-step description of the installation process for ENOVIA Collaboration for Microsoft Office Integration and Desktop Search.

The installers for the ENOVIA Microsoft Office Integration and Desktop Search application are:

  • ENOVIAMicrosoftOfficeIntegrationandDesktopSearch.Windows. – For 32 bit Client OS
  • ENOVIAMicrosoftOfficeIntegrationandDesktopSearch.Windows64. – For 64 bit Client OS


Before you begin:
  • Ensure that you have administrator privileges before starting the installation.

  • If you do not have a valid certificate on your machine or missing certificates for the Publisher, then you have to enable the “Update Root Certificates” components.

    To enable the automatic update of certificate on the machine, click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs , and click on Add/Remove Windows Components. You have to check Update Root Certificates components and click Next.


  • Install the following prerequisite software:
    • Microsoft Windows Desktop search 4.0

      For Windows XP 32 bit & KB940157

      For Windows XP 64 bit & KB940157

  1. Log into Windows as a user with Administrator privileges.

  2. Copy the .zip file from the CD or the ENOVIA Download page to a temporary directory.

  3. Unzip the MEDIA_NAME.zip file to a temporary directory. Change to the MEDIA_NAME\1\ subdirectory.

    cd \MEDIA_NAME\1

  4. Run the setupV6.exe

  5. In the Destination Folder dialog box indicate where you want to install the application. Select Browse to install the application in a different folder to the location that appears on your screen. Once you have selected the location click Next.

  6. In the Web Application URL dialog box enter the complete server URL and click Next.

    Enter the server URL based on the format given below :

    Server Connection URL

    If you are using a default port to connect to the server.

    http://decserver/enovia/

    If you are using some port other than the default port to connect to server.

    http://corpserver:6289/enovia/

    If you are using HTTPS as a communication protocol *** to connect to server

    https://myserver:8085/enovia/

    Important: The https may require valid certificate on the client machine for MSF to login successfully. To ensure the https url you are using has a valid certificate, use the web browser to open the ENOVIA web application for the same url. If your web browser displays a warning about invalid certificate, MSF login may fail for the same reason.

  7. Choose the client-server Authentication and click Next.

    You can select from the following options:

    • None
    • Ntlm
    • Basic
    • Forms

  8. In the Start Copying the program files dialog box click Install.

    During the installation, a progress bar shows how far the installation has progressed.

  9. After the installation is completed, the Install Complete dialog box appears informing that the installation process has ended. Click Close.

  10. Select whether to restart your computer now or later. Configuration changes made to ENOVIA Collaboration for Microsoft will not take effect until you restart your computer.

    1. If you select Yes your system will restart immediately and the ENOVIA V6 icon for the ENOVIA Microsoft Office and Windows Explorer integration will be available on your desktop.
    2. If you select No the configuration changes will not be made until you restart your computer.
