Creating and Revising a Baseline

The owner of a project and members with Project Lead access can create and revise baselines for the project.


Before you begin: View the WBS page in Baseline View. See Viewing Information About a WBS or Project Task.
  1. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Create Baseline to create an initial baseline. This link only appears if a baseline has not yet been created.



    Or:

    To revise the current baseline, click Revise Baseline. This link only appears if an initial baseline has been created.

    For the initial baseline, the revision is 0. If you are revising a baseline, this number is automatically incremented. The revision field represents the number of times the baseline has been revised.

  2. Enter Comments.

    When creating an initial baseline, the system enters a default comment of "Initial Baseline" but you can edit this. For baseline revisions, you should describe the reason you are creating the baseline--why you want to take a snapshot of the start and end dates now. Your comments will be listed on the Baseline Log.

  3. Click Done.
