Using Keyword Capture

You can use keywords to identify and capture Requirements, Chapters, and Comments found in a requirement specification. Keywords can be used in an automatic mode without any user intervention or in a semi-automatic mode where a user has the ability to change the captured content.

Before you begin:

Requirement Capture must be installed. For instructions, see Installing ENOVIA Requirement for Word.

You need a requirement specification that can be opened in MS Word.

  1. Open the specification document in MS Word.

  2. Review the specification.

Review the document to decide whether you want to make an automatic or semi-automatic capture.

  3. On the Requirement Capture toolbar in MS Word, click (Keyword Capture).

    The Keyword Capture form displays.

  4. To specify keywords, click the Show link next to Keywords.

Keywords are used to identify a Requirement, Chapter, or Comment in an Word document. During an automatic or semi-automatic capture, only the selected keywords will be used to mark up the Word document.

You can perform these actions with keywords:

    1. To select one or more keywords, check the box to the left of the keywords.
    2. To select all keywords, click Select All.
    3. To unselect all keywords that are selected, click Unselect All.
    4. To remove a keyword from the list, check the box to the left of the keyword and click Remove.
    5. To add a new keyword, type the keyword in the text box and then click Add.

  5. To do an automatic capture, click the Show link next to Automatic Capture.

The automatic mode automatically captures Requirements and Comments in the Word document, without any user intervention.

You can perform these actions in automatic mode:

    1. To capture a sentence or paragraph that contains any of the selected keywords, click Sentence or Paragraph.
    2. To tag the Word document with Requirements, click Requirement; to tag with Comments, click Comment.
    3. When finished making your settings, click the Capture button.

After the Capture button is clicked, the program tags the Word document with Requirements or Comments. If the Sentence option is selected, any sentence that contains any of the selected keywords is tagged. If the Paragraph option is selected, a paragraph that contains any of the selected keywords is tagged.

A busy cursor displays until the program finishes tagging sentences or paragraphs in the entire Word document. Once the automatic capture process starts, you cannot intervene and cancel the process. After automatic capture is done, you can continue to import the Requirements and Comments.

  6. To do a semi-automatic capture, click the Show link next to Semi-Automatic Capture.

The Semi-Automatic mode of capture is a more controlled capture where you can determine whether to tag particular content in the Word document as a Requirement or Comment.

You can perform these actions in semi-automatic mode:

    1. Click Find Next to move to the next Requirement or Comment in order to find content that contains any of the selected keywords.
    2. When the next chunk of content is found, you can review the content and decide whether to tag it using one of these buttons:
    3. (Requirement). Tags the content as a Requirement.

(Comment). Tags the content as a Comment.

(Chapter). Tags the content as a Chapter.

There is no option to tag a sentence or paragraph because you can decide whether to tag a single sentence or multiple sentences as a Requirement, Comment, or Chapter.

After semi-automatic capture is done, you can continue to import the Requirements, Comments, and Chapters.

  7. Click Done to close the Keyword Capture form box.
