Creating Requirement Revisions

You can revise an existing requirement that is not under Engineering Change (EC) control. You can revise multiple requirement objects at once, such as requirements, sub requirements, and derived requirements. In the early stages of product development, requirements undergo many changes to define and clarify the product expectations for the implementation team. During the Preliminary or Draft states, changes can be made to a requirement without revision control. However, once the requirement is released, it is subject to EC rules. A requirement can be revised from the Properties page, Revisions list page, or Specification Structure Browser. A Requirement Manager has revise access when the requirement is the latest revision and in the Release state. Revising a requirement resets its status attribute to "Suspect."

Before you begin:

View the list of requirement revisions as shown in Viewing Requirement Revisions. Or Open a requirement in the Requirement Structure Browser page as shown in Using the Requirement Structure Browser. Or Revise a requirement from its Properties page as explained in Viewing Requirement Properties. Or Perform a global search on requirements as seen in Running a Search.

  1. In the Requirement Structure Browser, check the requirement in the list.

  2. From the Actions menu on the page toolbar, click Revision.

  3. In the Description field, type some descriptive text about the revision.

  4. Click Done.

    A form confirms the revision.

  5. Click OK.
