Unlocking an Object or Branch

This task shows you how to unlock an object or branch.

If you check out a file with a lock and then decide that you do not need to edit the file, you can cancel your check out using the Cancelling a Checkout.

Release the lock on a module branch using the Unlock command. For module members, Cancel is typically used to release the lock on a module member.

Note: Removing a lock held by another user is usually a restricted operation and is not currently supported by the DSclipse interface. If you need to release a lock held by another user, and have permission to do so, use one of the other clients provided for DesignSync, such as dssc or the DesignSync GUI interface.

You can select these types of data for the unlock operation:

  • A module branch or version.

Note: You can select multiple objects to unlock within a single unlock operation.

Before you begin:
  • The DesignSync server must be running.
  • You have locked module branch populated into your workspace.
