Opening a Defect

After evaluating a Defect and determining that sufficient details have been provided and that the problem should be fixed, a Change Board member promotes the Defect to open so it can be worked on.

If the Defect had been previously rejected because all Defect Actions associated with it were rejected, you can promote the Defect to open without creating a new Defect Action.

Before you begin: View the Properties page for the Defect. See Viewing Defect Details.

  1. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Promote to Open.

    Defect Management requires that you create a Defect Action before the Defect can be promoted.

  2. Create the Defect Action. See Creating a Defect Action.

    The Defect Action is created in the Evaluate state, and the Defect is promoted to the Open state.
