The effectivity of a design variant or part determines the availability of the design variant or part for future product configurations and BOM generation processes. Since a design variant or part that is referred to by multiple product configurations or inclusion rules cannot be removed, you can change its status to inactive for a particular product configuration. The Active or Inactive status of a design variant or part does not impact current product configurations. Inactive design variants and parts can be made active again, facilitating their reuse.
