Creating an ECR

Supplier Engineers can recommend changes to a part or to its specifications by adding an Engineering Change Request (ECR) to quotation line items.

You can attach documents to an ECR to supply detailed specifications or other information. An ECR can only be created when the quotation is in the Open state. To attach documents to the ECR, see Attachments and Folder Contents List.

Before you begin: List the ECRs for a quotation line item. See Managing ECRs.
  1. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Create New.

  2. Enter these details:

Description of Change. Specify the change you want to make.

Reason for Change. Describe why the change is needed, such as how the change will improve the product or which customers need the change.

    State. Choose an option:

    • Submit ECR Now. Submits the ECR immediately to the buyer. If the RFQ is sealed, the Supplier must wait until the quotation due date before submitting any ECRs.
    • Manually Submit ECR Later. You can continue to work on the ECR, to attach documents for example, and then submit it when ready.

  3. Click Done.

The buyer can only view a submitted ECR if the quotation has been returned.
