Viewing Full Traceability for a Requirement

You can view the traceability from a requirement to its related objects. During the product development process, a requirement can be connected to down-stream objects such as: features, products, specifications, and use cases. Viewing a requirement's full traceability allows you to see the relationships of all objects connected to a requirement.In addition to viewing full traceability, you can expand and open Requirement objects in the Structure Content Editor from the Full Traceability report.


Before you begin:

Open a requirement in the Requirements Structure Browser page. See Listing Requirements

Or

View properties for a requirement. See Viewing Requirement Properties

Or

Open a specification in the Specifications Structure Browser page. See Using Structure View for a Specification

Or

Open a specification in Status View of the Structure Content Editor. See Opening a Specification in the Structure & Content Editor

  1. From the requirement, click Full Traceability from the Categories menu.

    Or

    From the specification, click an icon in the Allocation Status column.



    The Requirement Full Traceability column details are as follows:

    Object Name. The name of the related object. Click the name to view more information about the object.

    Title. The descriptive identifier for the object.

    <->. An arrows indicates whether the object has a "from" relationship (>) or a "to" relationship (<) with respect to the requirement object.

    Object Type. The type of object.

    State. The lifecycle state of the object.

    Owner. The owner of the object.

    Description. The description of the object.

  2. Expand the view to see the sub and derived objects by clicking the "+" next to a requirement or test case name.

  3. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Structure Content..., to open requirement objects in the Structure Content Editor. See Structure & Content Editor.
