Removing an Object from a Module

This task shows you how to remove selected objects in your local workspace from a module. The locally removed objects are removed from the workspace immediately and checked into the module version that is created by your next checkin.

Note: If you have enabled the Enable compatibility mode with pre-V6R2010 servers option in the DesignSync General Preferences, the remove operation takes place simultaneously in both the workspace and on the server for pre-V6R2010 servers and a new module version is created on the server.

Before you begin:
  • The DesignSync server must be running.
  • You must have a module populated in your workspace.
  • The objects being removed must be within the scope of the base folder of the specified module. The objects can be files, directories, or collection objects.

  1. Select the object being removed.

  2. Select DesignSync | Remove from Module.

This launches the Remove from Module dialog.

  3. Select the appropriate remove options and select OK.

The objects are removed from the workspace.

  4. Run Checkin on the workspace when you have completed the work you want to include in the new module version. For information on using the checkin command, see Checking in Design Data.

The output of the checkin operation is stored in the DSclipse log file and echoed to the console view. The decorations for the objects change to reflect the status of the objects.

The objects are removed from the workspace and the server and a new module version is created containing this structural change, along with any additional structural or content changes in the workspace.
