Consider the above product configuration structure. Suppose you select Configuration Feature Green and Configuration Feature European. Then, the parts marked with one asterisk will not be considered when generating the PBOM. Only the parts with two asterisks will be included in the PBOM.

The following rules are used to decide which parts are to be included in the PBOM:

  • The General Bill of Materials parts directly connected to the product must be included based on their inclusion rules.
  • At any level of the selected features, parts connected to logical features must be included based on their inclusion rules.
  • The parts attached to the selected configuration features (at any level of the product structure) must also be included, based on their inclusion rules.
