Cloning a Product by Copy Selected

This task shows you how to use the Copy Selected option to copy a product's structure definitions. This action can be performed by selecting only one product at a time. If more than one product is selected, then clicking Copy Selected displays an error message. This includes all structure and rules of the source product, including the following:

  • Top level features of the source product
  • Rules of the source product
  • Parts - product level
  • All related specifications

The clone function does not copy the following:


  • Builds
  • Revisions
  • Versions
  • Routes
  • Issues

Note: If you manually add a configuration feature to a product or product variant and then add it as a design variant to a logical feature, that configuration feature will be retained in the product or product variant context even if the design variant is removed.

  1. To clone a product, do one of the following:

    • Check a product and click Copy Selected, from the page Actions menu or page toolbar.
    • Click the name of the product you want to clone to open the product's Properties page and then click Copy, from the page Actions menu or page toolbar.



  2. Click to select a Destination product to which the source product structure and rules should be copied.

  3. Click Done.
