Creating a Test Case

This task shows you how to create new test cases. Test cases are created in the context of objects. Users with permission to create a specific type of object can create the test cases for those objects.

  1. From the page Actions menu or page toolbar, click Create.



  2. Enter the details of the test case, including the following:

    Name. Type the name of the test case or check Autoname for the system to assign a name automatically to this test case. The name generated is in the form of Test Case-00001, where 00001 is the running number. In general, test cases are named using a short descriptive string.

    Description. Type the details that describe the test case.

    Owner. Click to assign an owner. By default, the Owner is set as the person who is creating the test case.

    Notes. Type any other details that need to be added.

    Estimated Completion Date. Click to select the estimated date of completion of this test case.

    Policy. Select the policy for the test case.

    Vault. Click to specify where the object will be stored in the database. This field is displayed only if more than one vault is available to you.

  3. Click Apply to create multiple test cases in the current session. This stores the new details into the database and re-displays the Create New page. The values previously entered are retained for editing.

  4. Click Done to create the test case and close the Create New page.
