Creating WBS Tasks by Copying from Another Project

You can copy the entire WBS or part of the structure from another one of your projects. When you copy tasks, task calendars, bookmarks and deliverables are also copied. Assignees, dependencies, discussions, risks, and routes are not included. The procedure is slightly different for projects and project templates.

For a project, Program Central adds the selected project as the last child of this project. For a project template, Program Central adds the selected project as a child of the task selected above.

To add a subtask to a task assigned to you, view your WBS Tasks; see Listing WBS Tasks Assigned to You or If you are a Project Lead for the project or project concept, view the project WBS; or If you are a Project Administrator and want to add a project to a project template, view the WBS for the template; see Viewing and Editing the Project Template WBS.

  1. For a project template, click Edit from the WBS Actions menu or page toolbar. You do not need to be in Edit mode for a project.

For a project template, the Edit WBS page opens.

  2. For a project template, if the task you want to add a task under isn't visible, use the page expand or filter tools to display it. For a project, the WBS is always added as the last child of the current first-level tasks.

  3. For a project: click Add/Copy WBS from the page Actions menu or toolbar.

For a project template: click Copy WBS to Selected Task from the page Actions menu or toolbar.
