Inserting Designs From ENOVIA in an Active Design

This task shows you how to insert designs from ENOVIA to a design that is the active open design in SolidEdge.

Using Insert function, you can insert,


  • Part in Assembly
  • Assembly in Assembly
  • Part in Drawing
  • Assembly in Drawing

You cannot insert,


  • Assembly in Part
  • Drawing in Part
  • Drawing in Assembly
  • Part in Part


Before you begin: Design in which you want to insert another design must be open and active in SolidEdge.

Opening Particular Version of a Design
  1. Click ENOVIA > Insert from SolidEdge toolbar.

    The ENOVIA Insert dialog box opens.

  2. Search for the design using Search option in ENOVIA Insert dialog box. See Searching Designs.

    The search results are listed in ENOVIA Insert dialog box.

    Select the required design from the search results.

  3. Click Insert or right-click the design and click Insert.

The selected design is inserted to the design currently active in SolidEdge in the location (0,0,0). For details on behavior changes in the Open feature when Read-only flag is activated by your Administrator, see About Opening Designs From ENOVIA.

Note: In Solid Edge ST3, an unresolved symbol is displayed for the component in an assembly family when an assembly family with a component is inserted using ENOVIA > Insert. This is a Solidedge API issue in Solid Edge ST3.
