Viewing Product Configuration Properties

This task shows you how to view a the product configuration properties page. The product configuration Properties page can be accessed by clicking a highlighted product configuration name from anywhere in ENOVIA Variant Configuration Central It shows details about the product configuration and provides access to the Edit Details page, where changes can be made to the properties.

ENOVIA Variant Configuration Central contains a special option that allows you to quickly see and work with items related to the product configuration. When a product configuration Properties page is opened, the left frame contains the Structure Navigator, which shows related items in a tree format. For details, see Using the Structure Navigator.

Editing Product Configuration Properties
  1. Click the name of a product configuration or click at the end of the row.

    The Categories menu, Structure Navigator, and Properties page opens. The Structure Navigator provides quick access to the Selected Options page for the product configuration.

  2. Use the links in the page Actions menu or page toolbar to work with the product configuration.


    • View Product Configuration. You can view the product configuration with only the included features and their parent features. This command is not available if the Product Configuration was created by selecting Part > Categories > BOM Powerview > Reports > Create Product Configuration.
    • Edit Details. To edit the product configuration details.
    • Edit Options. To edit options of the product configuration. This command is not available if the product configuration is not in the Preliminary state or if the value of the Validation Status attribute is "Not Validated."
    • Validate Configuration. To validate the product configuration. This command is not available if the product configuration is in the Active state or if the value of the Validation Status attribute is "Not Validated." For details, see Validating Product Configurations.
    • Preview Planning BOM. Creates a Planning Bill of Material. For details, see Generating a Planning BOM for a Product Configuration.
    • Preview BOM. Opens the Preview BOM page where you can modify objects in the product configurations BOM. For details, see BOM Preview Page .

      Note: To successfully preview a BOM, the product configuration must be associated with the top-level part of the context product and should have a part family as GBOM.

    • Generate Precise BOM. To generate a Precise BOM. This command is not available if the product configuration is in the Active state or if the value of the Validation Status attribute is "Not Validated." For details, see Generating a PBOM for a Product Configuration.
