Product Revisions Page

The Product Revisions page lists the product revision history (i.e., how each revision is created). You can access the Product Revisions page from the Categories menu in the Properties page of either a product or a model.

To view the revision history for a product, do one of the following:


  • In the Properties page of a model, from the Categories menu, select Product Revisions. For details, see Viewing Model Properties.
  • In the Properties page of a product, from the Categories menu, select Revisions. For details, see Product Properties Page.

Structure Browser



The product revisions are displayed in a structure browser with the following columns:

Name Name of the product revision. This column contains highlighted links. Click on any name in this column to view the Properties page for that object, or click at the end of the row to view the Properties page in a new browser window. This is a required field.

Note: Certain special characters are not allowed in names. The emxFramework.Javascript.NameBadChars property determines which characters are not allowed. See "Special Character" under Installation and Configuration > ENOVIA > Unified Live Collaboration > Studio Modeling - BPS Administration > Configuring the Properties Files > emxSystem.properties for details.

(Higher Revision Exists icon) Shows if a higher revision of the product exists.
(Active Engineering Change icon) Shows if the revision on the list has a related Active Engineering Change (EC) that is not in the Complete, Rejected or Closed state. For details about ECs, see Working with Engineering Changes.
(Primary Image icon) Shows the primary image for the product revision, if defined. Click the image to open the Images page, where you can view all images for the product. For details, see Managing Images.
Revision Shows the product revision number or code.
Type Shows the type of product.
Description Details about the product revision. Clicking the Enable Edit button enables in-cell editing of the description.
Start Effectivity The date when the product revision is available for configuration sessions.
End Effectivity The date when the product revision is no longer available for configuration sessions.
Governing Project A project created in ENOVIA Program Central that is used to govern the product created in ENOVIA Product Line Management. This column is blank if Program Central is not installed. Clicking the Enable Edit button enables in-cell editing of the governing project.
Current Phase The current milestone, phase or tollgate the project revision is in, which is the first top-level task that is not in the Complete state. This column is blank if Program Central is not installed.
Phase Completion The estimated completion date of the current phase of the governing project. This column is blank if Program Central is not installed.
State The current state of the product revision in its lifecycle.
Owner The person responsible for the product revision.
Design Responsibility The organization or project with design responsibility for the product revision. Clicking the Enable Edit button enables in-cell editing of the design responsibility.
(Quick File Access icon) Shows the icon if files are checked into or connected to the product revision. Click the icon to open the Files page. For details, see Files Associated with an Object.
(New Window icon) Clicking this icon opens the Properties page for the product revision in a new browser window.

Page Toolbar

The Enable Edit button enables editing of the Description, Governing Project, and Design Responsibility fields.

The Actions button provides access to the following actions.

Note: The Actions button is available only when you access the Revisions page from the context of a model.

Action Description
Create New Revision If this command is accessed in the context of a model and no product currently exists, it creates the initial revision of the product and connects it to the model. Otherwise, it creates a new revision of the product. The new product revision has the same name as the model.
Add to Portfolio Adds the selected product(s) to an existing portfolio. The Search page opens, where you can define criteria to search for portfolios that currently exist in the database.
Copy Selected Copies the structure and rules of the selected product revision(s) to another product revision. For details, see Cloning a Product by Copy Selected.
Delete Deletes the selected product revision(s) from the database.
Create Defect Creates a new defect that is reported against the selected product revision(s). This menu item appears only if ENOVIA Defect Management is installed. Selecting a revision enables this menu item; selecting more than one revision causes an error.

The Reports button allows you to view the following reports:

Report Description
View Product Roadmap Shows the roadmap tasks for the selected product revisions. For details, see Roadmap Tasks Page.
View Timeline Shows the timeline representing the roadmap tasks of the selected product revisions. For details, see Viewing Timelines.
View Design Effectivity Matrix This command is available only if ENOVIA Variant Configuration Central is installed.
View Design Effectivity Matrix Report This command is available only if ENOVIA Variant Configuration Central is installed.
